Cape Town City were held to a 0-0 draw by SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership match at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night.

As a result, the Citizens remain sixth on the league table, while Matsatsantsa also remain 14th on the log.

The two teams shared possession evenly in the opening stages of the game and the first shot at goal went to the visitors.

Evans Rusike found some space outside the City box and the SuperSport striker unleashed a powerful shot which missed the target.

The Citizens also threatened through Craig Martin, who hit the upright with a powerful shot with SuperSport goalkeeper Ronwen Williams well-beaten.

Zimbabwe international Rusike was looking lively for Matsatsantsa and he forced City goalkeeper Sage Stephens in the 25th minute.

The last chance of the first-half fell for Thabo Nodada, who placed his low shot wide of the target a few minutes before the break.

The score was 0-0 at half-time between City and SuperSport.

A relatively quiet second-half followed as the two teams continued to struggle to create clear-cut chances.

Aubrey Modiba tried to beat Stephens from range in the 66th minute, but City keeper produced a fine save to deny the SuperSport attacker.

The last chance of the game fell for Bradley Ralani and the City attacker missed the target from close range with six minutes left.

Both teams launched late attacks in search of a late winner, but they could not score and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
