Kampala Capital City Authority have announced that they will stage their CAF Champions League matches at Mandela Stadium in Namboole.

KCCA will play in the group stages for the first time and the club confirmed after a team assigned by CAF approved only Mandela National Stadium as the suitable venue for hosting the matches.

In a letter addressed to the club through FUFA, CAF Deputy General Secretary of Football and Development, Anthony Baffoe, confirmed as much.

“With regards to the inspection visit conducted by CAF for the stadiums in Uganda for the next phase of the 2018 Champions League season, CAF decided to approve the Mandela Stadium as the stadium that will host all the matches of KCCA FC during their participation in the competition,” he said.

The Ugandan champions are in Group A with Esperance of Tunisia, Egyptian side Al Ahly and Township Rollers of Botswana.

Coach Mike Mutebi will lead his men in their first home match will be against record African champions Ahly on Tuesday, May 15.
