The Cameroon international has explained why he extended his contract with Chinese Super League outfit Henan Jianye.

The forward believes that the club has a bright future hence he signed a one-year contract extension.

"I believe there are successful days ahead and I want to be a part of it," the attacker told BBC Sport.

Bassogog, who surprisingly joined Jianye in February, 2017 despite interest from top European clubs, netted 10 goals in 24 league appearances for the Zhengzhou outfit last season.

"The future looks bright at the club and I want to be a part of it. "I have settled here, I love the people and learning every day, so it was not a difficult decision [to extend].

"I am very happy with my decision to commit to the club. There is a lot ahead of us and I hope to make great contribution."

The 22-year-old, who extended his stay until the end of 2020, has netted one goal in six league appearances in the new 2018 Super League campaign.
