Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has revealed that their mission is to break more records with the Red Devils.
The coach was speaking after their 1-0 win over Wadi Degla on Tuesday night.
Ahly have already won their 40th Egyptian Premier League this season.
“I talked with the players to set new goals related to league records, we want to reach the largest number of points and goals,” El-Badry said.
“The players also want to break these records, this is something that will be esteemed for the technical and administrative staff and for the players and it will be recorded with our names in history, and this is why it’s important.”
The Cairo giants have two main records to beat, the first one is the highest amount of goals scored in a single league campaign (71) which is held by Tersan - they only need two goals to break it.
Moreover, they also want to register the most points recorded in a season (87), which is held by their arch-rivals Zamalek - they only need six points from their next three games to break the record.
“We have two games against Petrojet and Zamalek, and then we go back to the Egypt Cup. We are preparing the team for this important stage in order to reach our goals,” he concluded
Having already bagged the EPL crown, they are trying to win a treble as they prepare for their Egypt Cup quarter-final clash against Al-Assiouty and are in the CAF Champions League group stages.
