Herve Renard congratulates Moroccan clubs

Morocco coach Herve Renard has congratulated the country’s continental club representatives for reaching the group stage of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

Yesterday saw the completion of the playoff round of the Confed Cup, with both Raja Casablanca and RS Berkane advancing into the group phase.

Raja had a comfortable 3-0 (5-0 on aggregate) win over Zambia’s Zanaco, while RSB qualified in more dramatic circumstances, as their 2-0 win over Senegalese side Generation Foot saw the tie locked at 3-3, but the North Africans won through on away goals.

The pair followed in the footsteps of their fellow Moroccan clubs, Wydad Casablanca and Difaa El Jadidi, who secured progression into the group stage of the Champions League last month.

The achievements of the quartet moved Renard to post the following on his Facebook page: "Congratulations to WAC, DHJ, Raja and RSB on qualifying for the Champions League group stage and CAF Confederation Cup.”

Raja and RSB will learn their group stage opponents when the draw for the Confederation Cup takes place in Cairo on Saturday.
