Thapelo Tshilo's goal was not enough for Polokwane City as they drew 1-1 against Bidvest Wits on Sunday afternoon in an Absa Premiership match at Bidvest Stadium.
Following the stalemate against Gavin Hunt's men, City remain placed at number 13 on the log with 31 points from 27 matches.
The Clever Boys started on a high as they wanted to avoid their third consecutive loss in the league by taking the game to the hosts.
It was Pule who had a wonderful opportunity in the first 10 minutes to put the hosts ahead, but he was denied by goalkeeper George Chigova.
Rise and Shine were dealt a huge blow when Chigova was stretchered off and replaced by Harold Ndlovu in the 32nd minute.
On the stroke of half time, Rodney Ramagalela nearly scored his 12th goal of the season when his effort went agonisingly wide.
The Limpopo side frustrated the hosts and denied them the lead. It was 0-0 at half time.
Just after their return from the tunnel, defender Thapelo Tshilo broke the deadlock for the visitors with a beautiful header in the 53rd minute.
With 30 minutes remaining on the clock, Kyle Peters was called to produce a great save to deny Muhammad Sulumba from close range.
The hosts were under pressure as time was slowly moving against them and Granwald Scott hit the woodwork after catching Ndlovu out of his line in the 80th minute.
The Students continued to pile pressure on the Bernard Molekwa’s men in the dying stages of the tie
In the 90th minute Pule found an equaliser to stun the Citizens, 1-1.
The draw sees the outgoing league champions occupying 10th spot with 32 points with three matches remaining in their campaign.
