Ajax Cape Town will target a home victory when they host Baroka FC for an Absa Premiership clash at Athlone Stadium on 24 April 2018, kick-off at 19h30.
Ajax picked up a valuable away draw when they held Chippa United 1-1 in the Eastern Cape on April 15, a result which leaves them just one point away from the safety of 14th place – currently occupied by SuperSport United.
The Urban Warriors have claimed 24 points from 13 home matches this season, with their last three games as hosts bringing victories over Orlando Pirates, SuperSport and Bidvest Wits.
Baroka have gone four league matches without a victory after they were beaten 2-0 at home by Maritzburg United on April 15. The sequence of results has brought them just two points from a possible 12.
Bakgaga have claimed just 15 points from 13 away matches this season, with their last result on the road a goalless draw at bottom-of-the-log Platinum Stars in early April.
In head-to-head stats, Ajax and Baroka have met in three league matches since the start of last season. Two games have ended in draws – including an entertaining 2-2 in Limpopo earlier this season – while the lone win went the way of Bakgaga when they triumphed 1-0 in Cape Town last term.
Ajax’s line-up from their 1-1 draw with Chippa on April 15: February, Zwane, Booysen, Lebusa, Nhlapo (Morris 59’), Kabwe, Nel, Malepe (Julies 73’), Zakri, Losper (Margeman 53’), Lakay.
Baroka’s line-up from their 2-0 loss to Maritzburg on April 15: Dlamini, Mothupa, Mabotja, Madubanya, Kgoetyane, Chawapiwa (Ngalande 66’), Banda, Sidumo (Nguzana 51’), Kgaswane, Motupa (Sodi 75’), Mdantsane.
