The 28-year-old central midfielder was ecstatic after helping his side secure a victory over Newcastle United on Monday night.

Gueye played the entire match as his club, Everton FC edged out United 1-0 thanks to Theo Walcott’s second-half goal.

The English Premier League match was played at Everton’s iconic stadium, the Goodison Park in the city of Liverpool.

Gueye, who was booked in stoppage time, battled with fellow Senegalese central midfielder Mohamed Diame, who is one of United’s key players.

The hard-working player took to his Twitter account to express his delight at helping the Toffees return to winning ways in the league.

“(It is) always good to play at home and get the win. Hard fought game last night,” Gueye said.

“Also good to battle with my brother Mo (Diame) again.”

Everton were winless in three league matches before they locked horns with United and the victory took them to eighth place on the league standings.

The Toffees will now take on Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.
