Nigeria international Jamiu Alimi is pleased to have signed a two year deal with Akwa United after his botched move to South African side, SuperSport United.

This is according to Complete Sports Nigeria, who also reported that the defender is set to make his debut for Akwa against Enyimba in the Nigeria Professional Football League match on Sunday.

The 25-year-old is keen to help Akwa win the 2018 Nigeria Professional Football League title.

“I’m pleased to be at this club (Akwa United) and I can’t wait to make my debut this Sunday,” Alimi told the website.

“This is the best team in the NPFL and I love them. I almost joined the club during the mid season last year.

“But Kano Pillars refused to allow me go. Now that I’m here, I want to help them win the NPFL title.”

The central defender has turned out for NPFL clubs Sharks FC, Shooting Stars and Kano Pillars.

He has also played in Europe for clubs based in Ukraine and Cyprus.
