A late goal through Thabo Rakhale handed Chippa United a 1-1 draw against SuperSport United in their Absa Premiership match at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The result leaves the Eastern Cape-based side placed at number seven on the log table with 36 points from 29 matches.
On the other hand, Thabo Mnyamane netted for the Tshwane side but they could not hold on to their slender lead.
SuperSport United had the upper hand early on and were rewarded in the ninth minute when Mnyamane found the back of the net to put the visitors ahead, 1-0.
In their search for a second goal, United were awarded a penalty but skipper Dean Furman could not convert from the spot.
Coach Kaitano Tembo was forced to make a change when Mnyamane was injured and substitute Kingston Nkhatha replaced him.
Nkhatha came close to scoring but his shot was saved by Daniel Akpeyi on the stroke of half time.
It was 1-0 at the interval.
Nkhatha continued to cause all sorts of problem for the hosts as SuperSport controlled the game, yet the Zimbabwean forward saw his effort going over the bar in the 54th minute.
When it looked like United were crusing to a win they allowed Vladislav Heric’s men to bounce back in the dying stages of the tie.
Thabo Rakhale would find an equaliser after netting a brilliant goal against the run of play.
Both sides would share the spoils at the end of the 90 minutes.
The stalemate leaves the Tshwane side placed at number 14 with 33 points.
