MC Alger eye winning start against Difaa El Jadidi

MC Alger will welcome Difaa El Jadidi in the 2018 CAF Champions League Group B match at the Stade du 5-Juillet-1962 in Algiers on Friday.

Kick-off is at 21h00 CAT.

The Algerian club booked their place in the group stage after overcoming Congo-Brazzaville side AS Otôho and Nigerian outfit MFM FC.

Alger won the Champions League title in 1976 and they will hoping that this will be the year they clinch it for the second time.

Hichem Nekkache and Walid Derrardja are some of Alger’s key players with the former having scored six goals in this year’s competition.

Meanwhile, El Jadidi qualified for the group stage after eliminating Guinea-Bissau outfit Sport Bissau e Sport and AS Vita of DR Congo.

The Moroccan outfit made their debut in the Champions League in 2010 and they will be looking to each the knock stages for the first time.

Simon Msuva and Hamid Ahaddad have been in good form for El Jadidi in this year’s competition, and they will be eager to help their team beat Alger.

DR Congo powerhouse TP Mazembe will face Algerian side ES Sétif in the other Group B game on Saturday.
