Chemseddine Nessakhi‘s goal was not enough for ES Setif as they were downed 4-1 in their CAF Champions League tie on Saturday afternoon at the Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.
Setif started their Group B clash on a low as the Ravens found the back of the net through Ben Malango’s brace and strikes from Elia Meschak and Nathan Sinkala at home.
Mazembe started on a high as they pushed to find the opening goal and broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Malango scored.
Nessakhi equalised in 12th minute as they leveled matters and the game remained open.
Despite both sides having numerous chances before the break the scores remained 1-1 at the break
In the second half, Meschak made it 2-1 for Kyle Mihayo’s troops in the 63rd minute to consolidate their lead.
Although Setif fought hard to bounce back in the clash, they failed to find their way through the hosts’ defence.
Zambian international, Sinkala would find the back of the net with nine minutes to go as they made it 4-1.
The victory sees the reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions sitting at the summit of the group with three points.
