Faouzi Ghoulam’s hopes of becoming a Serie A winner with Napoli are likely to go up in smoke this Sunday when the penultimate round of the 2017/18 season is completed.
Following last weekend’s 2-2 draw for Napoli against Torino, as well as a 3-1 win for leaders Juventus at home to Bologna, the gap to the top is six points with just two rounds to go.
This means Juve need only one draw from their last two matches against Roma (away) and Hellas Veron (home) to secure yet another Serie A championship.
And that is assuming Ghoulam’s Napoli win their remaining games against Sampdoria (away) and Crotone (home).
Meanwhile, Ghoulam will be hoping to complete his comeback from injury in what remains of the season, having worked his way back to first-team contention in recent weeks.
He was included in coach Maurizio Sarri’s squad for the match against Torino, but remained on the bench throughout.
