AmaZulu FC edged out Cape Town City 1-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
As a result, Usuthu finish the season on position eight on the league standings, while the Citizens finish fifth.
The Citizens dominated the first-half but they were very wasteful as they could beat AmaZulu goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha.
Bradley Ralani and Masoud Juma both missed the target as Usuthu were not punished by visitors.
The score was 0-0 at the interval with City having wasted their chances.
Jabulani Ncobeni was introduced just before the second-half started as Usuthu searched for the opening goal.
The skillful player played a free-kick which was turned home by Mbongeni Gumede to make it 1-0 to AmaZulu in the 63rd minute.
City tried to push for a late equalizing goal, but they could not beat Mbatha on the day.
Ultimately, AmaZulu secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over City in Durban.
