Egypt and Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has revealed what Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho told him since his switch to Anfield Stadium.
Salah says he met with the Portuguese boss on two occasions, saying Mourinho expressed delight that the Pharaohs international was thriving under manager Jurgen Klopp.
The winger played under Mourinho at Chelsea, but made just 19 appearances before being sent on loan spells to Fiorentina and AS Roma in Italy.
Salah eventually joined Roma before making his return to the English Premier League for the Reds as he signed for £34 million last summer.
In his debut season for the Liverpool, the Egyptian was crowned PFA Player of the Year for scoring 44 goals in 51 appearances for the Reds this term.
“I did meet him twice – in our match here at Anfield [Liverpool vs Manchester United] and in the other match in Manchester,” Salah told Egypt Today.
“He told me that he is happy with what I am doing. So, I thanked him. We didn’t talk much; I just said ‘hi’ to him and he told me that he was happy for me.”
Salah broke a long-held record on the final day of the Premier League season for most goals in a 38-match season.
His goal against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday saw him end the season on 32 league goals to beat Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to the Golden Boot award.
