CAF Champions League title holders Wydad Casablanca will look for their first win in Group C when they host AS Togo-Port at Stade Mohamed V on Tuesday night, kick-off at 21h00 CAT.

The Moroccans opened their group stage campaign on a positive note, drawing 1-1 away to 2016 African champions Mamelodi Sundowns earlier in the month.

Wydad found themselves behind early on when Sibusiso Vilakazi handed ‘Downs the lead, but an equaliser from Ismail Haddad secured a valuable away point for Faouzi Benzarti’s side.

"It was a very tough game. We all know that Mamelodi Sundowns are a very good team‚ a very technical team. So it would not be easy‚" said Wydad assistant coach Youssef Achami after the draw in Tshwane.

"This was the first match of the group stages. Coming here we knew it would not be easy. But we are the champions and we have the CAF Champions League trophy.”

AS Togo-Port, meanwhile, suffered a home defeat in their first match, going down 2-1 against Guinea’s Horoya in Lome.

Issifou Bourahana’s goal proved only a consolation for the Togolese side thanks to away strikes from Horoya’s Daouda Camara and Aboubacar Camara.

Group C’s other Matchday 2 fixture – between Horoya and Sundowns – has been postponed to May 22 due to the latter’s friendly match against Barcelona scheduled for this Wednesday.
