Mozambique’s UD Songo made it two losses from two in their CAF Confederations group campaign after going down 2-0 to Morocco’s RSB Berkane in their second Group B match at the Estadio do Ferroviario on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss for UD Songo is their second in Group B and sees them firmly rooted to the bottom of the standings with zero points.
The opening half was a rather dull affair with both teams squandering possession due to poor passing and bad decision making in the final third.
Consequently, the opening half ended goalless.
The second half proved a lot more entertaining with both teams pushing hard for the opening goal.
UD Songo, though, suffered a bit of a set-back on the hour mark when they were reduced to ten men following a straight red card for Cremildo Ernesto Nhantumbo.
Berkane quickly made their one-man advantage count and took the lead in the 64th minute when Ayoub El Kaabi found the back of the net with a clinical finish, 1-0.
The visitors continued to push forward after taking the lead and were rewarded for their efforts in the 89th minute when Ayoub El Kaabi scored his second goal of the game to seal the win, 2-0.
The result sees the Moroccan side go top of the group with six points, that is until the other Group B match on Wednesday between Al Masry and Al-Hilal Omdurman on Wednesday night.
Berkane are next in action in the CAF Confederation Cup on July 17 at home to Al Masry while UD Songo are away to Al-Hilal on the same day.
