USM Alger claimed a vital point in their CAF Confederation Cup, Group D match after their 0-0 draw against Gor Mahia at Moi International Sports Centre on Wednesday evening.
From this result, the North Africans remain at the top of the group with four points from two matches.
USM Alger will now prepare to face Rayon Sports in Rwanda on July 17.
The Algerians started on the front foot as they were awarded a set piece in the first six minutes, but Boniface Olouch collected with ease.
Chances were few and far between the two camps, but it was the hosts who attacked more towards the half-hour mark.
George Odiambo attempted a header, but Lamine Zemmamouche punched back into play and the woodwork denied Odiambo on a second attempt.
The Algerians did most of the defending and could not trouble the hosts as they headed to the tunnel locked at 0-0.
From their return, the hosts were dealt a huge blow when Joash Onyango was handed his second yellow card for a foul on the edge of the area.
Following Onyango’s red card in the 57th minute, the hosts had to re-organise their defence..
However, there were no clear cut chances in the end as both sides walked away with a point apiece.
The draw leaves the visiting Algerians placed at the top of Group D with four points from tow games.
The draw leaves the Kenyans placed joint second with two points from two matches.
Gor Mahia's next match is against Young Africans of Tanzania at home in July.
