1.On 29 April 2018 nine (9) of our players boycotted our match against Gilport Lions including preparations therefor. The players were called for a meeting on 30 April 2018 where they were reprimanded for behavior unbecoming of a sportsman and contrary to the club’s code of conduct. Upon receiving a reprimand from management three (3) of them being Dennis Molongwa, Onalathata Khuta and Thapelo Modise tendered an apology in writing and returned to training, while the remainder maintained their unwanted conduct. On 2 May 2018 the club suspended the six (6) players from duty with immediate effect on account of breach of club disciplinary code and further for bringing the name of the club into disrepute. The said players are Ofentse Mmipi, Kenanao Kgetholetsile, Katlego Mbise, Wazha Seleka, Bonno Mosea and Thabo Metlhayotlhe.

2.These players were scheduled and called to appear before a disciplinary hearing on Friday 4th May 2018 but FUB (Footballers’ Union Botswana) wrote to the club expressing its interest to represent five (5) of the six (6) and requesting that the hearing be rescheduled to allow them time to prepare in defence of the suspended players. The hearing has since been suspended without prejudice to the club and the latter is yet to hear from FUB regarding the proposed date of hearing. Meanwhile, Bonno Mosea who is not represented by FUB failed to appear for the hearing as scheduled and no excuse or apology for failure was tendered. Consequently, a hearing was held in his absence and the decision made has been withheld pending notification to the player.

3.The above incident about the players has attracted bad publicity for the club and is regrettable. However, the team remains unbroken and undeterred to find a spot in the Top 8 bracket. Michael Tinye is continuing with his physiotherapy ahead of 2018/19 season while Francis Olaki is convalescing at home and destined for medical review at GPH on 9 May 2018.

Yours in sport,

Ian Kebopetswe - General Manager
