The Egyptian Football Association has confirmed that national team coach Hector Cuper will renew his contract before the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

EFA president Hany Abou-Rida has stated that Cuper’s contract will be renewed, indicating that they are close to finding an agreement.

The Argentine’s existing deal with the Pharaohs is set to end after the World Cup and the EFA’s intention to renew his contract has been circulating for some time.

Cuper was handed the national team’s coaching reigns in 2015 and has qualified Egypt to the World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

Moreover, he reached the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals after the team failed to qualify on three successive attempts.

“I agreed with Cuper to agree his deal and it is expected to happen before the Kuwait friendly,” Abou-Rida told a local radio station.

“There are no issues with extending the agreement with Cuper and his entire coaching staff will stay as well.”

The North Africans will line up against Kuwait on May 25, meet Colombia on June 1 and Belgium on June 7 ahead of the global tournament.

Meanwhile, they will face off against Uruguay, Russia and Saudi Arabia in Group A next month in Russia.
