Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel has revealed his ambition to star for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Mikel said he is delighted to link up with the Super Eagles at their training camp in Uyo ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Tianjin Teda midfielder has shown his total commitment to the team’s cause as he was expected to begin training with the team as from Saturday, May 26.

Mikel has had a fine season with Tianjin Teda as he started and finished all their matches in the Chinese Super League, scoring one goal with two assists next to his name.

''I am happy to be here. It is a huge privilege to play with this team and represent Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup,'' Mikel said to the Nigerian Federation.

Meanwhile, the West Africans will fly out to the English capital on May 30 for a friendly against England.

The former Chelsea midfielder in the English Premier League will be looking forward to facing his old Blues’ teammates.

Moreover, Nigeria will face DR Congo in a friendly on Monday in Port Harcourt and wing-back Victor Moses has been ruled out of the friendly.
