Egypt and Aston Villa defender Ahmed Elmohamady thanked their fans for all their support throughout their 2017/18 English Championship season.

The Pharaohs' defender has also vowed that they will find their way back to the English Premier League next season.

Elmohamady was speaking after their disappointing 1-0 defeat in play-offs final against Fulham, saying they are frustrated as a team.

The North African international provided five assists for the Villains this past term as they finished fourth on the standings.

On the other hand, they won their first play-off game against Middlesbrough, but lost in the final game against a youthful Fulham side led by Ryan Sessegnon.

“When you get in the play-offs, you are one step away from the Premier League,” he said to the Express and Star website.

“Of course you have to get together again and go again next season. Hopefully we will be back next season.

“We have great supporters, behind us all the way. We will make sure next season we will do it for them.

“I thought we played really well in the second half and deserved at least a goal.

“We were unlucky and needed too many chances. They took their chance in the first half. They kept the ball well and made it difficult for us.

“We created four or five really good chances in the second half, really, really good chances to score.

“We have to take it on the chin, it is very disappointing.”
