Angola failed to bag a win as they drew 0-0 against Malawi at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday evening in their final COSAFA Cup, Group B match.
Despite the Angolans desperately looking for a win to reach the next stage of the regional tournament, they failed to trouble the Malawian defence.
However, the Palancas Negras nearly found their opening goal in what was seen as a move against the run of play in their first attempt. The effort in the 25th minute came close after a powerful shot hit the woodwork.
There were no goals in the opening half.
Upon their return, Angola looked threatening, but they were not clinical upfront and failed to capitalise on erratic defending by the Malawians.
In the wake of this result, both teams crash out of the tournament as Angola finish second whilst Malawi settled for fourth in the group.
Meanwhile, Botswana have thrashed Mauritius 6-0 to progress to the quarter-finals and set up a date against defending champions, Zimbabwe.
