Liverpool have rubbished claims that Senegal star Sadio Mane has agreed personal terms to join Real Madrid.

The Teranga Lions attacker, who is set to be a key figure for his national team at Russia 2018, was linked with a shock move to Real by France Football, pending the green light from whoever takes over as manager of the Spanish giants.

The agreement was supposedly reached before Zinedine Zidane resigned as Real manager and the club have shelved their plans to sign the player until the vacancy is filled.

Mane was Liverpool’s standout player in their UEFA Champions League defeat to Real, scoring a goal and hitting the post in the match.

Liverpool have now replied to request for comment by the English media, and labelled the story as ‘nonsense’.

The Mirror adds that Liverpool have no intention of selling Mane and will not allow the forward to exit the club under any circumstance this summer.

The Reds also insist there is no truth to rumours that the Senegalese star has agreed terms with the La Liga giants.

Mane was a key figure for Jurgen Klopp’s side in 2017/18, scoring 20 goals and laying on nine assists in 44 appearances.

He formed part of the best front three in European football alongside Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino.
