Nigerian international midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has vowed to improve on his performance for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Onazi and his midfield partner Joel Obi were lethargic last Saturday as the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to the Three Lions of England.
Coach Gernot Rohr substituted the two players at half-time when they trailed England 2-0.
“Saturday’s outing was disappointing from me and I know it was not the best from me due to reasons I could not lay my hands on, but it is a process one has to pass through to get better,” Onazi wrote on his Instagram page.
“A lot of criticisms and lot of blames yes I know, but it can only come once in a while.
“Criticisms can only make me better. I can’t run away from it but to learn and get better.
“Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Super Eagles preparations for the World Cup is still on to get us sharp.”
It remains to be seen if the former U17 and U20 midfielder will shape up to keep his place in the Super Eagles starting line-up when they take on Croatia on the June 16.
