Kenya’s Harambee Stars went down 3-0 to the Blue Tigers of India in their second match of the 2018 Hero Intercontinental Cup match played at the Mumbai Football Arena.

As a result, the Harambee Stars are placed third on the group standings after Monday’s defeat with one more game left.

Sunil Chhetri, who was playing his 100th match in the hosts’ colours, got India ahead in the 68th minute.

Jeje Lalpekhlua then doubled the scoreline only three minutes later. Sunil Chhetri would then complete his brace in added time to see India pull clear at the top of the log, with six points from two matches.

The hosts had earlier on Friday June 1, 2018, dispatched Chinese Taipei 5-0 in the opening match of the tourney. Kenya meanwhile, came from behind to beat New Zealand 2-1.

Harambee Stars will hope to finish among the top two teams when they face off with Chinese Taipei in their final match, slated for June 8, 2018. India, on the other hand, will be up against New Zealand on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), The top two teams will face off in the final, scheduled for Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the Mumbai Football Arena.

Tournament hosts India and New Zealand are placed top, and second respectively on the group standings. Chinese Taipei, who have lost their first two games, are placed fourth on the table.
