As they prepare to face 2018 COSAFA Cup defending champions, Zambia coach Beston Chambeshi has called on his men to hit the ground running

The Chipolopolo defeated the Barea of Madagascar in the semi-finals on Wednesday via a 1-0 win through Lazarous Kambole’s goal.

Chambeshi has admitted that his side needs to be more clinical and ruthless in front of goal after failing to demolish the Malagasy at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Despite showing an improved display, Zambia failed to kill off the game and the coach will hope to see a better showing in the final on Saturday.

“It was tough game, Madagascar gave us a good run but we planned for this game and I am happy with the way the boys played especially in the second half,” Chambeshi said.

“We were supposed to kill off this game by five or six goals unfortunately the boys were not accurate with their finish but I am happy with this victory at least we are in the finals.

“The boys are improving after playing Namibia, who have been a problem for us in recent games, while Madagascar, who have improved a lot, gave us a good game.

“I have been working with this team for just two weeks but playing like this (against Madagascar) you can tell that there is direction with this team.

“We need to keep this team and there is some future in this Zambia team.”

Meanwhile, Zambia now face the Warriors of Zimbabwe on June 9 at Peter Mokaba in the repeat of last year’s final that Chipolopolo lost 3-1 in Rustenburg. CLICK HERE TO VISIT AFRICAN FOOTBALL ZAMBIA
