Egypt international Amr Gamal has backed the Pharaohs ahead of their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The marksman was left out of Egypt’s final 23-man squad for the World Cup, but he has sent a message of support to the Pharoahs.
Gamal played five World Cup qualifiers, including the decisive fixture against Uganda, but Egypt’s Argentine coach Hector Cuper did not include him in the final squad for the global competition.
“My friends, brothers, and the men of the national team. God willing, you will complete what we started together and achieve success in the World Cup,” Gamal told FIFA.com.
The 26-year-old player is currently on loan at Finland’s HJK Helsinki from Al Ahly. He has featured in 13 games for the Helsinki, but is yet to hit the back of the net.
“Full support from all of us. Good luck for you and for all the Arab teams,” he added.
Gamal has made 19 appearances for the Pharaohs and netted three times. He made his debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2014.
The Pharaohs were drawn in group A alongside tournament hosts Russia, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia. Their first game is against Uruguay on June 15.
