As the build-up for the 2018 FIFA World Cup continues, Portugal skipper and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has rated Mohamed Salah just as good as Argentina's Lionel Messi.
The Pharaohs international had a record-breaking season with Liverpool FC in the English premier League and became the Premier League’s top scorer with 32 goals – and 44 in total across all competitions with the Reds in 52 appearances.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, praised Salah and supported him after his injury against Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final three weeks ago.
He wished that this year’s ‘revelation’ manages to make it in time for Egypt’s World Cup campaign.
“Mo Salah has been one of the revelations of the year. I hope his injury in the final in Kiev doesn’t keep him out,” Ronaldo told reporters on Monday.
“Many people talk about the Cristiano Ronaldo-Messi battle but there are other players who have chances to enter the race. The Egyptian is one of them.”
Salah’s return date hasn’t been determined yet and it is still uncertain if he will be able to make it in time for the Pharaohs first match against Uruguay on Friday.
