Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly have announced Patrice Carteron as their new coach on a two-year deal.
The Red Devils have been searching for Hossam El-Badry’s successor who left his position last month.
El-Badry resigned following a shocking 2-0 loss to Uganda's Kampala Capital City Authority in the group phase of the CAF African Champions League.
"We signed Carteron for many reasons, one of them is that he has experience in African Football as he worked with TP Mazembe and won the African Champions League, and he knows the Egyptian league as he previously worked with Egyptian side Wadi Degla," Al Ahly said in a statement.
The Cairo-based club announced that the Frenchman will arrive in Egypt on Wednesday to start working with the team.
Meanwhile, the 47-year-old switches to North Africa from the United States of America where he was head coach at Phoenix Rising, the same club where Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba currently plays.
