Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says the club is under no pressure to name a new coach and signings ahead of the 2018/19 PSL season.

The Amakhosi’s first issue is to appoint a new coach, having parted ways with Steve Komphela toward the end of last season. The likes of Avram Grant and Eric Tinkler have been mentioned as possible candidates.

The Soweto giants have also been silent on the transfer front, in stark contrast to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, who have already confirmed some major acquisitions as they look to strengthen before the start of the season in August.

“We are not under pressure. It is still early. We will announce our changes at an appropriate time. Does the fact that everybody is signing mean that we should also sign?,” Motaung told IOL.

“Does it mean that when Pirates make announcements, we must also make announcements? Why should we be worried that Pirates and Sundowns are signing new players?” he asked.

“We will announce players when we are ready,” Motaung concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs have not won a major trophy since securing the PSL title in 2015 and are under increasing pressure from their demanding fans to challenge ‘Downs for domestic supremacy.
