Lobi Stars assistant coach, Evans Ogenyi remains hopeful that his side can win this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
Stars lost their last two league matches to Enyimba and Go Round FC, but they remain at the top of the league standings - two points above second-placed Akwa United.
Ogenyi believes that the 1999 league champions will claim the crown at the end of the current campaign because of their determination and self-belief.
“It is just the belief. We have the determination that this time round we have what it takes to actually go for the league title by the time the season ends,” Ogenyi told the league’s official website.
“We have told our players from the beginning of the season that they should be ready. The motivation and the self-belief that we can do it have been keeping us going.
“We are certain that Lobi Stars will be crowned league champions at the end of the season because we have done it before and we are sure we are going to repeat the feat again.
“It is still a marathon. We must take the positives and negatives from every match that we play and from this game, we have seen it all.
“We hope to work on the negatives before our next league match and by the time the World Cup ends we will be ready for Niger Tornadoes and other teams.”
The 2018 NPFL is on a mid-season break and Stars’ next game will be against Niger Tornadoes on July 18.
