Bayern Munich striker Kwesi Wriedt eyes more Ghana call-ups

New Ghana international Kwesi Okyere Wriedt says he is pleased with how he performed for the Black Stars during the team’s recent international friendly games.

The Black Stars overcame Japan 2-0 in Yokohama, before drawing 2-2 with Iceland in Reykjavic with Wriedt featuring in both matches,

The 23-year-old striker, who made his international debut against Japan, disclosed that Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah was happy with his performance.

“The national coach was satisfied with my performance and will hope for more opportunities,” Wriedt told Bild.

"Experiencing the hoo-chants live [against Iceland] was a cool experience; it was awesome that the whole stadium does it.

“Really loud! They did the hoo right at the start of the game. We’re all full of live; everyone’s basic mindset is always positive and very religious. For example, before training and games, we always pray together," he added.

Wriedt enjoyed singing and dancing during the mandatory initiation ceremony he went through as a new player in the Ghana squad.

“That was to an African song. The atmosphere was good, and I’m not so stiff in the hips, after all," said Wriedt.

"Everything was totally relaxed. We take this culture from Ghana with us in sports—there's a lot of singing and dancing. That fuses us together as a team even more."
