Current Free State Stars manager Luc Eymael has confirmed approaches by Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United, as the two sides are looking for a coach.
Amakhosi have been linked with the Belgian mentor for months as Steve Komphela’s replacement since he resigned in April.
Moreover, United roped in Kaitano Tembo after parting ways with coach Eric Tinkler earlier this year, but the Ea Lla Koto boss said he promised to go back to Bethlehem.
On the other hand, Amakhosi appointed Patrick Mabedi and Arthur Zwane as caretaker coaches.
Eymael helped Stars finish in a decent spot in the Absa Premiership as well as lifting the Nedbank Cup, beating Maritzburg United in the final.
Speaking to the Kick-Off website, the former Polokwane City manager said he will only consider offers should they come in before pre-season starts.
"I promised something to Free State Stars a long time ago, that if nothing came to concrete before I come back to Free State Stars I will remain with Free State Stars," Eymael said.
"So I don't know if the clubs contacted Free State Stars or not and if Free State Stars wants to exercise the buyout clause, and I cannot force them not to exercise it.
“And if Free State Stars wants to keep me, because I gave them a promise and there is a buy-out, I cannot force them to release me because I promised them something. And there is a buyout clause.
"So I have to be correct with the club, and I don't know anything about Chiefs and SuperSport. Yes, the teams, they contacted my agent and met with my agent.
“The agent told them exactly the same thing, that I'm contracted still one year.
“I'm still committed to one year with Free State Stars and that if nothing becomes concrete before the holidays [end] I will remain at Free State Stars.”
