Algerian international winger Riyad Mahrez has finally joined Manchester City from Leicester City on a five-year deal.
The English Premier League champions have confirmed the signing of the Desert Foxes winger on a record transfer fee of £60m.
Media reports suggest that the 27-year-old has joined the Citizens for a fee around £60m that could rise to £75m with add-ons, becoming Pep Guardiola’s first major summer signing.
The former AC Le Havre player becomes City’s record signing beating Aymeric Laporte’s £57m move from Athletic Bilbao last January.
On the other hand, the Foxes have also confirmed the deal is a club-record sale after they bought him for only £450k from French side AC Le Havre in 2014.
“I am so pleased to have joined City, a side playing great football under Pep Guardiola,” Mahrez said.
“Watching them from afar has been a pleasure. Pep is committed to playing attacking football, which is perfect for me, and City’s performances last season were outstanding.
“They’re redefining the English game and I wanted to be a part of it.
“I think we can be successful over the coming years and I believe my own game can develop under Pep’s management."
During his time with the 2016 league champions, Mahrez featured in over 170 appearances, scoring 48 goals and assisting 38 times as he guided them to a historic EPL title two seasons ago.
He also helped Leicester win promotion to the Premier League in 2014 as well as guiding them to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
The 2016 CAF African Player of the Year has been capped by his country on 39 occasions after making his debut in 2014.
