After unveiling a new coach in Giovanni Solinas on Friday, Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung said they looked at what the Italian can do for the Soweto giants.
Amakhosi have ended their three-month search for a new manager to succeed Steve Kompohela, who resigned in April this year.
In naming the Italian,’Chincha Guluva’ said they have brought in the right person with the right energy and mechanism to do well at Naturena.
The former Free State Stars coach has reportedly signed a two-year deal with a one-year option, returning to the Absa Premiership after having two stints at Ea Lla Koto.
“We always look at what a coach can do and we believe that, with Solinas, we have brought in a person with the right mechanism and energy to do well,” Motaung said in a statement.
“We also looked at recruiting a coach who understands our league, and somebody who can help us do well on the African continent, as we will be participating in the Confederations Cup.
“It’s important to understand that the game of football has become very scientific, which means that the strength of the coach is in the technical team around him.
“Even though he will, of course, always be the one in charge, we feel that Solinas is the right guy to guide this process.”
The coach will be expected to work together with Patrick Mabedi, who led the club in their pre-season preparations.
