Switzerland and new Liverpool signing Xherdan Shaqiri has expressed delight as he will now play alongside Egypt’s Mohamed Salah.
The Swiss international has praised the Egyptian international following his outstanding form last season in the English Premier League.
Shaqiri has joined the Reds for a whopping £13 million transfer fee from Stoke City and reunites with his former FC Basel teammate.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, the 26-year-old said he is happy for Salah after having a great 2017/18 season.
“I am very happy for him that he had this beautiful season because he is a very nice guy, a good guy,” said the Swiss international.
“The most important thing is for the club to work and he had an amazing season. Players are always sad when they don’t win trophies but hopefully we can do it this year.”
Meanwhile, the new signing can only hope to replicate Salah’s form from last season after the Pharaoh netted 44 goals as well as leading Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League Final.
On the other hand, manager Jurgen Klopp has signed the likes of Fabinho and Nabi Keita who have already started their pre-season.
The Premier League will kick-off in August and the Reds will face West Ham United in their opening game on Sunday, August 12
