Horoya Athletic Club failed to bag a win at home in the CAF Champions League after their 1-1 draw against Wydad Casablanca at Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry on Tuesday evening.
Followinf this result in Group C, manager Victor Vzunka’s troops remain placed at number two with five points and will want to bag a win next week in Morocco.
As both sides chased an early goal to settle down in the clash, chances were few and far between in the opening 15 minutes.
However, the defending champions drew first blood in the 26th minute through Ismail El Hadad who buried an assist from Michael Babatunde, 1-0.
As they pushed for an equaliser, the hosts showed their intentions three minutes later when Ocansey Mandela slotted home an equaliser from Brefo Mensah’s delivery, 1-1.
Both sides were deadlocked at the interval.
Coach Faouzi Benzart made changes in the second half, but they could not pay the desired results as they could not unlock the hosts’ defence.
On the other hand, the hosts also failed to clinch their second win and use their home advantage as they settled for a point.
The result leaves the defending champions sitting at the summit with five points from three matches so far.
The two giants will lock horns in their fourth group match on Saturday, July 28 at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
