Malian international Yves Bissouma has signed for Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion from French Ligue 1 side Lille.
The 21-year-old was signed for an undisclosed fee and penned a five-year deal with the Seagulls, becoming their sixth signing of the European summer transfer window.
The Eagles midfielder made 55 appearances and scored two goals for Lille since joining in 2016.
Brighton manager Chris Hughton said: “We are delighted to have signed Yves, and are pleased to welcome him to the club.
“We have been keen to strengthen the squad in the central midfield positions, and this will add to our options in this area. I am very much looking forward to working with him.
“He is someone with good technical ability on the ball, and has good experience at a relatively young age, after playing regularly in a competitive French league for the past two seasons.”
Bissouma has also featured for JMG Bamako and AS Real Bamako in his club career, and was part of Mali’s teams at the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to the BBC, the fee paid for Bissouma is less than Brighton’s club-record of £14m for striker Jurgen Locadia in January.
Brighton have already signed goalkeepers Jason Steel and David Button, defenders Bernardo and Leon Balogun and striker Florin Andone this summer.
