DRC’s AS Vita Club suffered their first loss in the CAF Confederation Cup after going down 2-1 to Ghana’s Aduana Stars in a Group A match at the Agyeman Badu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

It was the worst start for the away side who went behind three minutes into the tie following a clinical finish from Bright Adjei, 1-0.

Stars doubled their lead in the tenth minute when a swift passing move concluded with Mohammed Yahaya finding the back of the net, 2-0.

AS Vita, though, were not going to go down without a fight and managed to pull a goal back in the 26th minute thanks to a strike from Glody Muzinga, 2-1.

Both side’s exchanged blows in the final 15 minutes of the half, but neither could find another goal before the break.

The home side entered the half time tunnel leading 2-1.

The second half was no where near as entertaining as the first 45 with both sides poor in the final third.

AS Vita did see more of the ball, but bad passing and terrible decision making saw them waste chance after chance in front of goal.

For the most part Stars sat back in defence and tried to protect their lead, something they managed to accomplish as the match ended 2-1 in the Ghanaian’s favour.

The win sees Stars up to four points in Group A from three matches thus far, tie on points with AS Vita who suffered their first loss in their Confed Cup campaign.

AS Vita will be looking for revenge in two weeks’ time when they clash once more in the Confed Cup in the DRC on Sunday, July 29.
