UD Songo claimed their first point in Group B of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup as they held hosts Al Hilal 2-2 in Omdurman on Wednesday night.

The result took the Sudanese giants to two points, though they remain in third place and adrift of leaders RS Berkane and Al Masry, who drew 0-0 in Morocco.

The Mozambicans, meanwhile, are rock bottom of the standings but have at least registered their first point.

Hilal got off to a flying start and opened the scoring in the second minute through Mohamed Bashir, putting them in charge of the game from early on.

The Blue Wave enjoyed strong dominance through the first half and doubled their lead in the 36th minute through Thomas Ulimwengu.

But the Southern Africans hit back just before the break through Frank Banda, keeping themselves in the contest as the game went to half time.

The second half was a tense affair, with Hilal goalkeeper Yunis El Tayeb generally well protected by his defence. However, on 87 minutes Helder Pelembe netted for Songo to secure a 2-2 draw.

The teams will return to Confederation Cup action on July 29 with the reverse fixture at the Ferroviario Stadium in Beira.
