The 2018 CAF Confederation Cup returned from an almost two-month break with a full set of group stage Matchday 3 fixtures played across the continent on Wednesday, July 18.
The biggest win of the day went the way of Gor Mahia, who crushed Young Africans 4-0 in Nairobi, thanks in the main to a brace from Ephrem Guikan, to move to five points in Group D.
However, USM Alger continue to dominate that pool after they picked up a fine 2-1 away win over Rayon Sports in Kigali.
Ghana’s Aduana Stars brought themselves back into contention in Group A with a 2-1 home win over AS Vita thanks to early goals from Bright Adjei and Mohammed Yahaya, but the standings are topped by Raja Casablanca after their narrow 1-0 victory away to ASEC Mimosas.
Group B has remained in control of the North African pair of RS Berkane and Al Masry after they drew 0-0 in Morocco, while the other game saw UD Songo score a late equaliser through Helder Pelembe to hold hosts Al Hilal 2-2 in Omdurman.
Finally, Group C saw home wins for Enyimba and Djoliba over Williamsville and CARA Brazzaville respectively. Just three points covers the four teams, leaving it very much an open race for the two berths in the quarterfinals.
Matchday 4 of the group stage will be played on July 29, featuring the reverse fixtures from yesterday’s games.
