After bagging a 3-0 win over Botswana’s Township Rollers, Al Ahly midfielder Islam Mohareb says the victory has eased their concerns.
The Red Devils were on the verge of seeing their CAF Champions League knockout qualification chances coming to an end, but a win has boosted their morale.
Ahly’s attacking midfielder has expressed his joy over the Red Devils comfortable victory against Popa in their third CAF Champions League match on Tuesday at home.
Walid Azarou, Ali Maaloul and Islam Mohareb gave Al Ahly a 3-0 win over Nikola Kavazovic’s troops as they bagged their first victory in the competition after collecting a single point in the previous two encounters.
The 26-year-old midfielder said that all the players had the desire to win the game.
The victory put Ahly back in track in Group A as they now occupy second place with four points, just behind the leaders Esperance Sportive de Tunis with seven points.
“The win brought us back in contention for qualification and gave us a strong boost before the second Township tie in Botswana in which we aspire to win too,” Mohareb told Ahly’s official website.
Moreover, he also rejoiced over the confidence he is getting from coach Patrice Carteron, affirming that the entire team is certain towards the goal of achieving the African title.
