Fresh from 2018 Maize Cup glory, Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso says they will face Mamelodi Sundowns taking the game seriously.

Amakhosi defeated Buya Msuthu and Free State Stars last weekend in the pre-season tournament to successfully lift the trophy.

With the possibility of having their new coach Giovanni Solinas on the bench, Chiefs will face the Brazilians at FNB Stadium in the inaugural Shell Helix Cup on Saturday.

Cardoso says they want to show that they mean business this season by beating Pitso Mosimane’s men on Saturday afternoon.

Moreover, the Soweto giants are reportedly set to face the reigning Absa Premiership champions in their opening match of the 2018/19 PSL season next month.

“No matter who we play, it can be a Castle League team, we take every game seriously. It builds us as players as well. Every team out there is wanting to beat Chiefs, so this game that’s coming up is another preparation for us to better ourselves and obviously we are going to take it seriously,” the defender told KickOff.com.

“We want to make sure our fans stay happy, because once we start losing our fans start getting on our backs and it’s not good because it puts pressure on us.

“We want everybody to see that we mean business this season and that we want to win trophies.”
