New Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas is aware of expectations as he starts his career as the Amakhosi boss, according to football manager Bobby Motaung.

Motaung was speaking to the media ahead of their participation at the Mpumalanga Cultural Experience Cup on Saturday.

The tournament will be the third preseason event for the Soweto giants as they will meet Cape Town City on Saturday afternoon.

Chiefs have already bagged the Maize Cup trophy, but lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Shell Helix Cup last weekend.

"Every game is a win at Chiefs. The coach knows his job, he also wants to achieve and he knows the challenge that we've had for the past three seasons," said Motaung as quoted by Kick-Off.

"So, there is pressure. Whether the coach hits the ground running, once you're at Chiefs and you're part of that space, it's pressure every day to satisfy the fans and he knows it.

"He took the job knowing that this is a challenge that he wants to face, so I think it's going to be interesting. This season is going to be interesting.

"He must click with the players, they must have an understanding with him, and he's the right candidate for the job.

"He's got that personality, he'll hit the ground running, and one thing that we've mentioned is also the fact that he has experience of the PSL – which is what we said is the type of coach we're looking for – and African experience.”
