Junior Ajayi's knee injury has reportedly ended Mamelodi Sundowns chances of of luring Phakamani Mahlambi back to the Absa Premiership.
The former Bidvest Wits forward has been heavily linked with a move to the South African league holders , but Ajayi's injury has opened the door for Mahlambi at Al Ahly with Egyptian giants now set to register the forward in their squad for the 2018-2019 Egyptian Premier League season.
Al Ahly kick-off their campaign against Ismaily on Thursday evening.
Ajayi, who picked up a serious knee injury in a 1-0 win over Township Rollers this past weekend, is set to miss up to four months of action.
