Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango suffered a serious head injury in the club's 2-0 win over Polokwane City in an Absa Premiership clash on Tuesday evening.

The Brazilians corresponded via their official Twitter account during the course of the match that the shot-stopper, who collided with a Rise and Shine player late in the first-half, was in a stable condition, and will undergo multiple tests.

Onyango fell awkwardly following a collision and had to be lifted into an ambulance on the field before being taken to hospital.

Head coach Pitso Mosimane will be hoping that his shot-stopper isn't too seriously injured. The Uganda international suffered a similar injury in the 2016 CAF Champions League final second-leg in Egypt, and had to leave the field after 28 minutes in the club's aggregate win over Zamalek.

Onyango, 33, has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers on the African continent since joining Sundowns from Mpumalanga Black Aces seven years ago.
