Al Ahly midfielder Nasser Maher has emerged as a transfer target for European clubs Udinese and Villarreal, according to France Football.
Maher, a 21-year-old who can play as a winger or central attacking midfielder, spent the last two seasons out on loan at Petrojet and Smouha.
He is back with Ahly this term and appears to be making strides at the Cairo club, having been a starter in their first two Egyptian Premier League matches against Ismaily and Al Masry.
France Football reports that Maher could be on the move again, as Udinese, Villarreal and several Ligue 1 clubs are keen on signing him.
Maher is not the first Al Ahly youngster to be wanted by Udinese, as Ahmed Hamdi was close to signing for the Italian side after a trial, but the deal fell through.
Meanwhile, Villarreal invited Maher for a 10-day trial last year and even approached Al Ahly to sign the midfielder, but they were unable to come to an agreement over a transfer.
Maher’s contract at the Red Devils runs out in 2021. He is a newcomer to the first team, but is expected to be a major star and gain experience in both domestic and continental club competitions in the coming months.
