Baroka FC will look to hand Kaizer Chiefs a second successive Absa Premiership defeat when the teams meet at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 14 August 2018, kick-off at 19h30.
Baroka bounced back from an opening round defeat to claim a 2-1 home win over Cape Town City on August 8, thanks to goals from Mpho Kgaswane and Matome Kgoetyane.
Bakgaga will aim for a second straight win as hosts, as they look to make the Peter Mokaba Stadium a fortress through the 2018/19 season.
Chiefs suffered their first defeat of the league season when they were beaten 3-1 at home by Bidvest Wits on August 7. The Soweto side has picked up just one point from the first six up for grabs and will be aiming to make up lost ground as soon as possible.
The Amakhosi’s only other away game this season was their 1-1 draw at Mamelodi Sundowns in the opening round of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership.
In head-to-head stats, Baroka and Chiefs have met in four league matches since 2016/17. The teams have a dead-even record: one win apiece, two draws and five goals scored each. Bakgaga, though, have recorded one draw and one defeat from their two turns as hosts in the rivalry.
The teams took three points each from their league meetings last term: Baroka won 2-1 away in Durban in the first half of the campaign, but Chiefs claimed revenge with a victory by the same score in the return game in Polokwane.
Baroka’s line-up from their 2-1 win over City on August 8: Dlamini, Kgoetyane, Gebhardt, Banda, Madubanya, Makume, Chawaphiwa, Mdantsane, Chivaviro (Molopo 67’), Moseki (Maliba 82’), Kgaswane (Matloga 76’).
Chiefs’ line-up from their 3-1 loss to Wits on August 7: Khune, Mphahlele, Cardoso, Mathoho, Ntiyantiya (Ekstein 86’), Katsande, Ntshangase, Billiat, Tshabalala (Paez 66’), Parker, Castro (Mahlasela 79’).
