Etoile du Sahel will look to secure to spot in Group D of the 2018 CAF Champions League when they host Primeiro Agosto at the Olympic Stadium in Sousse on Saturday, August 18, kick-off at 21h00 CAT.
Etoile come into the game having beaten Mbabane Swallows 2-0 at home on July 27, as goals from Maher Hannachi and Slim Ben Belgacem took the Tunisians to victory.
The result secured a place in the quarterfinals for the Red and White, who are sitting pretty at the top of the group standings with 10 points. Simply avoiding defeat on Saturday night will be enough to secure first place and ensure they are seeded for the quarterfinal draw.
Agosto’s last Champions League outing was a crucial come-from-behind victory at home to Zesco United late last month. The Zambians led until late in the game, but last-gasp goals from Geraldo and Muselenge Ungenda secured a 2-1 win for the Angolans.
The result left the Luanda-based team in second on the log with five points, though they have third-placed Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland (four points) breathing down their neck and come into this clash in need of a positive result to keep up their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds.
Agosto and Etoile met in the first round of group matches back in May, with goals from Lompala Bokamba and Ammar Jemal leaving the game in Luanda locked at 1-1.
DR Congo referee Jean-Jacques Ndala Ngambo will take charge of the match in Sousse. The other Group D match sees Swallows host Zesco in Manzini on Saturday afternoon, kick-off at 15h00 CAT.
